Hello cultural friends,
Did you know that this Wednesday is the International Museums Day, and on Saturday we celebrate the European Night of Museums? To mark these dates, our wonderful city has prepared a special week with more than 100 activities in 31 museums of Porto. You can’t miss it!
International Museums Week
18 – 22 May in Porto
The museums promise a variety of exhibitions, dance performances, music and theater, workshops and even guided tours and “museumspapers”. This year, the overall theme is Museums and Cultural Landscapes, starting with a guided tour at the Museum of FC Porto (Porto’s football club) on Wednesday and Saturday.
Throughout the city, from the Porto Military Museum to the Soares dos Reis National Museum, in the National Press Museum (NMI) or the Romantic Museum of Quinta da Macieirinha, the doors will be open for you - the vast majority for free - to discover the story behind the walls.
ESN Porto has some suggestions for you to enjoy the most of these days:
On Wednesday there is folklore: the Folk Group of the Infante D. Henrique High School will perform in Soares dos Reis National Museum, at 12:30pm.
On Saturday, it is time for a tribute to the life and work of the poet Almeida Garrett, with the performance of the Folkloric Ranch of Porto, at 3pm, at the Romantic Museum of Quinta da Macieirinha. On the same day, students from Porto Music Conservatory will make a music recital dedicated to youth and adults, at 5:30pm, in the same place.
But there is much, much more. Check out this article, where you can find a map with the location and description of all the activities, and start preparing your week: https://jpn.up.pt/2016/05/16/
See you around the city!
