CINANIMA - International Animated Film Festival of Espinho (November 12-18) 

13th of November @ Rectory of University of Porto

 

This festival has two activities not to be missed at Reitoria da Universidade do Porto, on the 13th of November:

- at 11:00am the journalist and historian of Animation’s Cinema Nancy Denney-Phelps will guide the Masterclass "Unknown heroines in the animation";

- at 9:30pm it presents the Panorama Special Screening, composed of 12 international short films.

  • MASTERCLASS CINANIMA'18 "Unknown Heroines in Animation" | Nancy Denney-Phelps (11:00am / 13 Nov)

 

SINOPSIS: Born in Belgium, Nancy has dedicated herself to writing about European animation and festivals, and has also worked as a music producer for animation. She is also a close correspondent of ASIFA (San Francisco) - International Animated Film Association and member of its International Board of Directors.

In this Masterclass, open to the community in general and the academic public in particular, there will be an opportunity to deepen the theme of pioneering women's recognition in the field of animation. Masterclass ends with an in-depth analysis of Joy Batchelor's career, the creative force behind British studio Halas and Batchelor. Nancy Phelps will be an International Student Film Jury at CINANIMA.

  • PANORAMA SPECIAL SCREENING (21:30 pm / 13 Nov) at the Rectory of University of Porto.

 

At 9:30pm, also in the Rectory of Porto's University, there will be a Panorama Special Screening consisting of 12 short films, specially selected from the films that will be shown in the GREAT INTERNATIONAL PANORAMA category of the Festival. This is a program made of films from countries as distant and distinct as Latvia, Netherlands or even Denmark, and will allow you to undertake a journey through different technical and aesthetic approaches.
